There will be a memorial service on Saturday, Sept. 24, for Robert Abelson, retired Eugene Higgins Professor of Psychology and professor of political science, who died on July 13.
Abelson, 76, was the author of numerous books and articles on social psychology, statistics, political science and cognitive science. He was also active in the political arena, serving as a political consultant for NBC News in 1964, 1968 and 1976, and as an adviser to the presidential campaigns of John F. Kennedy, Jimmy Carter, Walter Mondale and progressive mayoral candidates in New Haven.
The service in his honor will take place at 1 p.m. at the Unitarian Society of New Haven, 700 Hartford Turnpike, Hamden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Unitarian Society of New Haven.
