Winter clothing program

An information program on "Surviving a New England Winter" will take place on Thursday, Nov. 10.

The program is part of a multi-office effort directed toward international students and scholars. Members of the University community are invited to donate "gently used" winter apparel, such as coats, scarves, hats and gloves. The items will be distributed at 4 p.m. at the Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS), 421 Temple St.

The program will include a "Cold Clinic" by University Health Services which will offer tips about cold care prevention.

Members of the community who wish to make a donation may do so at OISS, 246 Church St., until Oct. 27 and at 421 Temple St. after Oct. 31. Other drop-off locations include the McDougal Center, Rm. 123, Hall of Graduate Studies, 320 York St.; the Office of Undergraduate Admissions on Hillhouse Avenue; the School of Nursing; and the School of Medicine, 333 Cedar St. OISS will arrange to pick up larger donations from departments during the week of Nov. 7.

Fall auction

The Edith B. Jackson Child Care Program (EBJ) will hold a fall auction on Saturday, Oct. 22, to raise money for the Dr. Albert Solnit Scholarship Fund as well as for its other general scholarship opportunities.

The silent and live auction will feature, among many items, the original art from one of Gary Trudeau's Doonesbury comic strips, signed prints by Tom Tomorrow, beachfront homes in the Bahamas and on Australia's South Coast, and a personal concert by Burning Bush Baroque Quartet.

A Yale-affiliated program, EBJ is a center-based program serving children between the ages of 3 months and 5 years.

The auction will be held 6-9 p.m. at the Eli Whitney Museum, 915 Whitney Ave., in Hamden. Proxy bids will be accepted. For more information, send e-mail to donna.bella@yale.edu or call (203) 764-9416.
