Halloween event
The Yale chapter of Alpha Phi Omega, a national service fraternity, will sponsor
a "Haunted House" at Dwight Hall, 67 High St., on Friday, Oct. 28, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
The event will feature storytelling, face painting, candy bags and other halloween activities. Individuals of all ages are welcome to attend.
The Peabody Museum of Natural History will host "The Natural History of Witches and Wizards" on Saturday, Oct. 29, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The event will feature owls, spiders and snakes in addition to rarely-exhibited specimens from the museum's collections. Expert animal handlers will be available to answer questions. Activities for children will include mask-making and the opportunity to try on a talking hat.
The museum is located at 170 Whitney Ave. Admission is $7 for adults; $6 for seniors aged 65 and over; and $5 for children aged 3 to 18 and older students with I.D. The third lecture in the fall series "Issues at the Forefront of Biology" will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 2, in Rm. 119, Hall of Graduate Studies, 320 York St.
The lecture will be delivered by Diane Krause, associate professor of laboratory medicine and biology. Krause will speak on "Stem Cells 101."

The U.S. women's national ice hockey team will play the eastern college athletic conference hockey league all-stars at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 1, at Ingalls Rink.
The national team is currently on an 11-game tour in preparation for the 2006 Olympic Winter Games. The team is comprised of former Olympians, collegiate players, including Helen Resor of Yale, and several members of the 2005 world champion U.S. women's national team. Yale students Kristin Savard, Deena Caplette and Sarah Love will play for the all-stars.

The Yale Center for British Art will host "Master Class: Drawing Materials and Techniques" on three consecutive Thursdays, beginning Nov. 3.
Anna Hammond, deputy director for programs and public affairs, will introduce the material and techniques of pencil and paper through basic drawing exercises. Participants will visit the Prints, Drawings and Photographs Study Room and spend time in the galleries applying what has been learned. The sessions are especially for those with little or no experience, but all are welcome. A materials list will be sent with registration. Each session will take place 5:30-7 p.m.

The Calvin Hill Day Care Center and Kitty Lustman-Findling Kindergarten will hold an open house for parents and children on Saturday, Nov. 12, from 11 a.m. to
The center and kindergarten are nationally accredited, full-day programs for community and University families. Tuition is set on a sliding scale, according to income. Experienced teachers work with three separate groups of children between the ages of three and six years old. Located at 150 Highland St., between Whitney Ave. and Prospect St., the center is open 8 a.m.-5:15 p.m. and also offers a summer program.
