A call for action
Former vice presidential candidate John Edwards came to New Haven and to Yale at the invitation of local chapters of Habitat for Humanity and Great Harvest. After spending much of the day helping with a Habitat project in New Haven, Edwards came to campus, where he delivered a lecture on poverty in America. He said his goal was not just to raise awareness of a condition he called "shameful," but to encourage members of the audience to take action against it. The audience that gathered to hear Edwards filled the Law School auditorium and two overflow rooms, and included individuals who had come from as far as New Canaan and New London
