Yale Repertory Theatre announces
its 2006-2007 season of plays

A play that has been hailed by The New York Times as one of the 10 best plays of 2005 is among this season's offerings at the Yale Repertory Theatre.

The six plays in the 2006-2007 season also include two comedies, a contemporary rendition of a classic myth, and two acclaimed dramas.

The season opens with "Eurydice" by award-winning playwright Sarah Ruhl on Sept. 22. (See related story.) Les Waters directs this re-telling of a classic myth, which runs through Oct. 14.

The schedule for the other plays, and brief descriptions of them, follow:

Oct. 27-Nov. 18 -- "The Mistakes Madeline Made," a new comedy by Elizabeth Meriwether about unlikely love and dirty people.

Dec. 1-23 -- "Black Snow," adapted by Keith Reddin from the novel by Mikhail Bulgakov, a comedy about a young writer whose dream turns into a nightmare when the most illustrious theater in Moscow decides to make a play out of his failed novel. Evan Yionoulis will direct.

Jan. 12-Feb. 10 -- The Primary Stages production of "In the Continuum," a play written and performed by Danai Gurira and Nikkole Salter that puts a human face on the devastating impact of AIDS in Africa and America through the lives of two courageous women. The production has been hailed by The New Yorker as "fiery, intelligent and comedic" and was cited as one of the 10 best plays of 2005 by The New York Times. Robert O'Hara will direct.

March 30-April 21 -- "Lulu" by German playwright Frank Wedekind, about a woman who is the reflection of every man's desire; men will kill for her and they do. Mark Lamos will direct.

The final play of the season will be announced soon.

All of the productions will be performed at the Yale Repertory Theatre, 1120 Chapel St. Subscription packages range from $68 to $235. Individual tickets are $35-$55. Subscription packages and tickets are available online at www.yalerep.org, by calling (203) 432-1234 or in person at the Yale Rep box office, 1120 Chapel St. A variety of flexible subscription packages, as well as senior, student and group rates, are also available.
