Creating a "City of Readers" is the goal of the third annual "Day of Caring Book Drive," a joint effort sponsored by Yale, United Way of Greater New Haven and New Haven Reads.
Members of the Yale community are invited to donate their new and gently used books for children, as well as books on parenting. These will be distributed free of charge to young people in classrooms, doctors' offices, homeless shelters, day care centers and at special events throughout the Greater New Haven area.
Donations may be dropped off now through Sept. 29 at the following locations: 155 Whitney Ave.; Art & Architecture Library, 180 York St.; Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library, 121 Wall St.; Yale Center for British Art, 1080 Chapel St.; Divinity Library, 409 Prospect St.; Engineering Library, 15 Prospect St.; Kline Science Library, 219 Prospect St.; Law School, 127 Wall St.; McDougal Center, Hall of Graduate Studies, 320 York St.; Medical Library, 333 Cedar St.; Seely Mudd Library,
