Kathryn A. Perrone, assistant to the Yale president, died in her home in New Haven on March 3. She was 60 years old.
"Kathy was a wise and invaluable member of my staff," said President Richard C. Levin in a letter to the Yale community. "She was part of the President's Office long before I moved to Woodbridge Hall and was highly respected by all who worked with her, including senior officials and faculty throughout the University. She will be greatly missed."
A Yale employee for 32 years, Perrone worked in the Provost's Office before joining the staff of the President's Office during the tenure of Benno C. Schmidt.
In her spare time, she was an avid reader, who enjoyed spending time with her family at Lake Hayward in Haddam. She was known among her friends and colleagues for her warmth and sense of humor.
Perrone is survived by her husband of 38 years, Stephen; their sons, John and Jason; her grandson, Michael; and her sister, Susan Julian.
Memorial contributions may be made to New Haven Reads, 133 Elm St., New Haven, CT 06510.
