Memorial Service for George Hersey
There will be service of remembrance in celebration of the life of the late
George L. Hersey, professor emeritus of the history of art, on Friday, Feb.
1.
The service of remembrance will take place at 2 p.m. in Dwight Memorial Chapel,
67 High St. A reception will follow in the Saybrook College master’s
house, 90 High St.
Hersey, the author of 13 books, was an authority on Italian Renaissance architecture
and sculpture, and on 19th-century architecture and art in Europe and America.
He began teaching in the Department of the History of Art in 1963 and died
at age 80 on Oct. 23.
