Dovidio receives Fowler Award
John Dovidio, professor of psychology, received the Raymond D. Fowler Award from
the American Psychological Association of Graduate Students.
The award honors psychologists who have made outstanding contributions to students’ professional
development and is a student-initiated award.
Linda Degutis named president of national public health association
Linda Degutis, associate professor of surgery (emergency medicine) and director
of the Yale Center for Public Health Preparedness, is the new president of
the American Public Health Association (APHA).
Degutis will work to increase public understanding and awareness of public health
and the need to support public health initiatives at all levels, encourage students
to make a commitment to a career in public health, increase science-based policy
development, and enhance the ability of APHA members to advocate for public health.
Degutis’ research and practice interests center on issues related to alcohol
and injury and public health preparedness, with a focus on interventions and
policy.
Yale football star Mike McLeod earns another honor
Yale junior tailback Mike McLeod has been selected to the 2007 American Football
Coaches Association Football Championship Subdivision All-America Team.
McLeod, a first-team All-Ivy pick for the second season, was named Ivy League
Player of the Year after breaking Yale’s single-season records for rushing
yards and touchdowns. He became Yale’s first Ivy MVP in 20 years after
running for 1,619 yards and 23 touchdowns and leading the nation for most of
the year in average yards per game.
