Junior Mike Scaglione and his lacrosse teammate Marko Lujic, a senior, were named first-team All-Ivy. Scaglione led the Ivy League in scoring with 47 points.





Baseball (12-27, 5-15 Ivy)

Season Complete.

Three Yale players earned All-Ivy recognition. Junior Chris Elkins (Tampa, FL) was a second team selection in the outfield, while seniors Craig Breslow (Trumbull, CT) and Matt McCarthy (Winter Park, FL) were both honorable mention pitchers.


Heavyweight Crew (3-4, 1-4 Ivy)

Last Week: May 19 -- 3rd at EARC Sprints-Petite Final (5:51.94).

Next: June 8 -- Yale-Harvard Regatta, Thames River, New London: freshmen, 3:15 p.m.; junior varsity, 4 p.m.; varsity, 5 p.m.

Yale's freshman eight finished third in the EARC Grand Final with a time of 5:55.46.


Lightweight Crew (8-0, 5-0 Ivy)

Last Week: May 19 -- 1st at EARC Sprints (5:55.39).

Next: May 30-June 1 -- IRA Championships

Yale captured the Jope Cup for overall supremacy at the Eastern Sprints for the second straight year. The Bulldogs finished first in the varsity, freshman and third varsity eight races.

The members of the first-place varsity boat were: junior Julia Tierney (Lincoln, MA), senior William Ralph (Radnor, PA), sophomore Tamas Toro (El Cerrito, CA), senior Ian Malloch (Queenstown, MD), senior Andrew Liverman (Oakton, VA), junior Ben Hamilton (Wayland, MA), junior Eric Feins (Rochester, NY), senior Wesley Ng (Toronto, ONT) and sophomore Evan Gibson (Seattle, WA).


Women's Crew (7-2, 5-2 Ivy)

Last Week: May 13 -- 2nd at EAWRC Sprints (6:25.10)

Next: May 31 -- June 2 at NCAA Championships

The Bulldogs' varsity eight was four seconds behind first-place Brown in the Grand Final of the EAWRC Sprints. In other races, Yale placed third in the second varsity (6:44.0) and fourth in the novice eight (6:56.10). With 64 points, the Bulldogs finished fourth in overall scoring.


Men's Golf (0-0, 0-0 Ivy)

Last Week: May 15-18 -- 27th at NCAA East Regionals (950)

Season Complete.

Senior Chris Eckerle (Indianapolis, IN) was Yale's top finisher at the East Regionals. He tied for 36th with a three-round score of 225.


Women's Golf (0-0, 0-0 Ivy)

Last Week: May 9-11 -- 20th at NCAA East Regionals (967)

Season Complete.

Senior Sarah Seo (Lima, OH) was Yale's top finisher at the East Regional. She tied for 27th with a three-round score of 222.

Senior Jenny Schriefer (Fort Wayne, IN) was the recipient of a College Golf Foundation Graduate Scholarship Award. Schriefer, a two-time All-Ivy selection, is a biomedical engineering major.


Men's Lacrosse (9-4, 4-2 Ivy)

Season Complete.

Senior Marko Lujic (North Haven, CT) and junior Mike Scaglione (Huntington, NY) were both named first team All-Ivy. Lujic had 21 goals and seven assists, while Scaglione led the Ivy League in scoring with 47 points. Junior Noah Glass (Newton, MA) was a second team selection and sophomore Edward Britt (Summit, NJ) and junior Eric Wenzel (Garden City, NY) were honorable mention selections.


Women's Lacrosse (11-5, 5-2 Ivy)

Season Complete.

Freshman Katie Sargent (Unionville, PA), who was second on the Bulldogs in scoring, was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Year. She also earned second team All-Ivy honors. Sophomore Miles Whitman (Baltimore, MD) and senior Megan Strenski (Moorestown, NJ) were first team selections, while junior Sarah Queener (Penn Yan, NY) was named to the second team. Junior Clarissa Clarke (Huntington, NY) was an honorable mention selection.


Softball (22-22-1, 5-9 Ivy)

Season Complete.

Third baseman Jesseka Bartholomew (Lake Forest, CA), who led Yale in batting (.368) and hits (53), and designated player Shayna Filson (San Ramon, CA), who hit a single season school record 10 home runs, were named first team All-Ivy. Filson also earned honorable mention recognition in the outfield. Catcher Kristy Kwiatkowski (Manalapan, NJ) was a second team selection, and pitcher Cara Denver (Vancouver, WA) was named honorable mention.


Men's Tennis (13-11, 0-7 Ivy)

Next: May 22 at NCAA Individual Championships

Freshman Ryan Murphy (Houston, TX), who had an impressive 24-10 overall record, earned first team All-Ivy recognition. Murphy and sophomore David Goldman (Miami, FL) were named second team All-Ivy in doubles.


Women's Tennis (12-5, 4-3 Ivy)

Season Complete.

Sophomore Margaret Purcell (Lake Forest, IL), who played No. 1 singles for the Bulldogs, was named first team All-Ivy in singles. Junior Elizabeth Kaufman (La Jolla, CA) was a second team selection, while Kaufman and senior Andrea Goldberg (Albuquerque, NM) earned second team recognition in doubles.


Men's Outdoor Track (0-1, 0-1 Ivy)

Last Week: May 18-19 -- 56th at IC4A Championship (1 pt)

Season Complete.

Freshman Lucas Meyer (Ridgefield, CT) scored Yale's point at the IC4A Championships by placing eighth in the 3000 steeplechase with a time of 9:09.01.


Women's Outdoor Track (0-3, 0-3 Ivy)

Last Week: May 18-19 -- 28th at ECAC Championships (8 pts)

This Week: May 30-31 at NCAA Championships

Junior Laura O'Neill (Milton, MA) placed fourth in the 3000 run at the ECAC Championships with a time of 9:34.11. Junior Kate O'Neill (Milton, MA) was eighth in the 1500 run (4:27.39).
