Jumpstart, a national non-profit organization that recruits, trains and supports college students to work with children in early education programs, is recruiting forty students from the University to serve during the next school year.
Jumpstart members work with children from the surrounding community at Head Start centers and kindergarten classrooms. Through one-to-one interaction with preschoolers, students supplement the children's early education and help them develop language, literacy and social skills. The program also encourages family involvement to help families support children's learning, as well as training college students to be future teachers and leaders in early childhood education. Students will earn funds through federal work-study and receive an education award.
For more information, visit the website at www.jstart.org.
