SOM summit will address the current
issues facing women business leaders

As part of its mission to expand the ranks of women in management and leadership roles, the Yale School of Management (SOM) is hosting the "Yale M.B.A. Women's Summit" on Thursday, Nov. 14.

Titled "Leadership in Business & Society Today: A Personal View," the event will take place 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom of the Yale Club of New York City.

"The Yale School of Management is dedicated to reaching out to the women interested in earning M.B.A.'s and acquiring management preparation needed to become future leaders in business and society," write the event organizers, noting that Yale SOM was recently ranked as the number-four school for women in "The Wall Street Journal's Guide to the Top Business Schools 2003."

Members of the Yale community are invited to attend the summit, which will feature top women business leaders -- all of whom are Yale alumnae -- in a discussion addressing the challenges and opportunities facing business leaders today.

Participants will include Pamela Carlton '79 Law, '80 Yale SOM, managing director of JP Morgan Securities Inc.; Gail Harrity '82 Yale SOM, chief operating officer, Philadelphia Museum of Art; Linda Mason '80 Yale SOM, chair and co-founder of Bright Horizons Family Solutions and a Yale trustee; Heidi Miller '79 GRD., executive vice president of strategy and development, Bank One Corporation; Nancy Pfund '82 Yale SOM, managing director JP Morgan H&Q; Sandra Urie '85 Yale SOM, president and chief executive officer, Cambridge Associates; and Laura Walker '87 Yale SOM, president and chief executive officer, WYNC Radio. Yale SOM Dean Jeffrey E. Gartenwill moderate the panel.

The event is sponsored by SOM's Admissions Office and Women in Management Interest Group.

Yale affiliates are encouraged to bring prospective MBA students as guests to the summit. The event is free to the Yale community, and advance registration must be completed at www.mba.yale.edu/mba_admissions/admissions/womens_summit_set.htm.
