Dr. Harvey Kliman, research scientist at the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, will be a featured speaker at the ninth annual conference of RESOLVE of the Bay State, the Massachusetts chapter of RESOLVE, the national infertility organization, on Saturday, Nov. 16. The topics of his presentations will be "The Hurdle of Implantation: Learn Why You May Have Implantation Failure or Recurrent Pregnancy Loss" and "On the Horizon: New Techniques and Treatments for Infertility." The statewide conference will take place in Marlboro, Massachusetts.

Kurt L. Schmoke, senior fellow of the Yale Corporation, will deliver the keynote address at "Public Service at Yale and Beyond," an event sponsored by Dwight Hall and the Yale Club of New York City on Monday, Oct. 28. Tickets are $20, $10 of which will go directly to Dwight Hall's member groups. The Whiffenpoofs will also be featured at the event, which takes place at the Yale Club of New York, 50 Vanderbilt Ave. Invitees should respond by Oct. 18 by calling (203) 432-2420 or sending e-mail to dwighthall@yale.edu.

A tribute to two former directors of the Child Study Center will be held at the 49th annual meeting of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in San Francisco on Oct. 25. The late Dr. Albert J. Solnit was the director from 1966 to 1983, and was succeeded by Dr. Donald J. Cohen, who remained director until his death in 2001.

Joseph LaPalombara, Arnold Wolfers Professor Emeritus of Political Science, will discuss Oliver Sacks' book "Oaxaca Journey" at a "Books Sandwiched In" discussion on Thursday, Oct. 24. Sponsored by the New Haven Free Public Library, the talk will take place 12:10-12:50 p.m. at United Church on the Green, corner of Temple and Elm streets.

Dr. Frederick Naftolin, professor of obstetrics and gynecology and professor of molecular, cellular and developmental biology, received the Arnaldo Bruno International Prize for Gynecology of the National Academy of Italy on June 25. Naftolin was cited for his superior scientific activity as demonstrated by numerous publications, principally in the area of metabolism and of the mechanisms of action of ovarian steroid hormones. The prize carries a 25,000 Euro award.

The Eli Whitney Museum will celebrate its 23rd annual meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 29, at 5:30 p.m. Alan Plattus, professor of architecture & urbanism, will deliver a talk titled "Whitneyville: Creating Community," which will examine the William Giles Munson portrait that helped establish Whitney's fame. The event is free and open to the public. The museum is located at 915 Whitney Ave., just past the New Haven border in Hamden.
