The Broadway hit "Kiss Me Kate" will open its national tour in New Haven in celebration of Yale's Tercentennial. Written by Yale alumnus Cole Porter '13, this Tony Award-winning revival of the original is by another Yale alumnus, Roger Horchow '50. The production -- which is also being offered as part of the International Festival of Arts & Ideas (see page 3A) -- stars Rex Smith and Rachel York.

The Summer Cabaret at Yale, New Haven's only professional summer theater, will celebrate its 27th season with four plays. The season runs June 20-Aug. 18. The schedule follows.

June 20-30 -- "Valparaiso" by Don DeLillo, directed by Kelly A. Flynn, is a comedic tale about a man who sets out on an ordinary business trip and winds up on a life-changing journey that takes him to another realm.

July 11-21 -- "bash" by Neil LaBute, directed by Shannon C.M. Flynn, follows four characters as they chart their inner torment through lacerating monologues.

July 25-Aug. 4 -- "No Exit" by Jean-Paul Sartre, depicts the miseries of a man and two women who are trapped in a room together forever.

Aug. 8-18 -- "ART" by Yasmina Reza, codirected by Kelly A. Flynn and Shannon C.M. Flynn, is a comedy that explores the relationship between three friends when one purchases a work of modern art.
