Spring book fair

The Phyllis Bodel Childcare Center at Yale School of Medicine, Inc. will host its annual spring book fair to raise funds for the center.

The event will take place Monday-Friday, May 6-10, in the rotunda of the Sterling Hall of Medicine, 333 Cedar St. The fair will be open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and will feature children's books, current bestsellers, cookbooks and self-help books. For more information, call (203) 785-3829.


"Lead Awareness Month"

The Yale-New Haven Lead Program and Regional Treatment Center will celebrate the month of May as Lead Awareness Month.

The group will host a community lead and health awareness spring fair on Saturday, May 11, noon-3 p.m.; the rain date will be Saturday, May 18. The event will take place in the parking and play areas of 132 and 138 Davenport Ave.

The fair will be open to children and families in the New Haven communities. Other community organizations will be attending to distribute information on health and other services in the New Haven area. There will also be free children's activities, lunch, music and entertainment.


Chamber music benefit concert

Students from the School of Music and guest musicians from the Mostly Modem Chamber Music Society will present a concert of chamber music to benefit New Haven's Downtown Evening Soup Kitchen.

The concert will take place at 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 9 in the Episcopal Church of St. Paul & St. James, at the corner of Chapel and Olive streets. The program will feature music from a variety of American perspectives, including works by Lee Hyla, Aaron Jay Kernis, Elliott Carter and others.

The suggested donation is $10 and $5 for students. For more information, call (617) 624-8720.
