Senior Thomas Hocker placed eighth in the 400 hurdles with a time of 51.73 at the Penn Relays April 25-27. The men's outdoor track team will next compete at the Heptagonal Championships May 11-12.





Baseball (11-22, 4-10 Ivy)

Last Week: April 24 -- Yale 7, Fairfield 6; April 27 -- Yale 5, Dartmouth 4, and Dartmouth 7, Yale 6.

This Week: May 1 at Dartmouth (DH); May 3 vs. Brown (DH), noon, Yale Field; May 4 at Brown (DH), noon.

Junior Justin Walters (Pensacola, FL) doubled home the winning run in the ninth inning in the victory over Fairfield.

Junior Steve Duke (Bayside, NY), who batted .385 in three games last week, has a four-game hitting streak.


Heavyweight Crew (2-4, 1-4 Ivy)

Last Week: April 27 -- Princeton 5:49.7, Cornell 5:50.2, Yale 5:57.4, Navy 6:05.2.

This Week: May 1 at Boston University

Yale finished second in the freshman 8 race.


Lightweight Crew (6-0, 3-0 Ivy)

Last Week: April 27 -- Yale 6:07.0, Dartmouth 6:17.2, Rutgers 6:21.3.

This Week: May 4 at Harvard, w/Princeton.

The Bulldogs won the Durand Cup by virtue of the victories over Pennsylvania and Columbia.

Yale's varsity boat is ranked first in the nation.


Women's Crew (6-1, 4-1 Ivy)

Last Week: April 20 -- Princeton 6:53.8, Yale 6:55.56.

This Week: April 27 vs. Harvard, 8:30 a.m.

The Bulldogs also won the novice eight race.


Men's Golf (0-0, 0-0 Ivy)

Last Week: Off

Next: May 15-18 at NCAA Eastern Regionals (if selected)


Women's Golf (0-0, 0-0 Ivy)

Season Complete.


Men's Lacrosse (9-4, 4-2 Ivy)

Last Week: April 23 -- Yale 17, Quinnipiac 8; April 26 -- Maryland 14, Yale 8

Season Complete.

Junior Mike Scaglione (Huntington, NY) was elected captain of the 2003 Yale squad. Scaglione led the Bulldogs in scoring this season with 47 points (28 goals, 19 assists).

Sophomore Edward Britt (Summit, NJ) scored three goals against both Quinnipiac and Maryland.


Women's Lacrosse (11-5, 5-2 Ivy)

Last Week: April 24 -- Yale 8, Rutgers 4; April 28 -- Hofstra 12, Yale 11

Season Complete.

Junior Clarissa Clarke (Huntington, NY) scored five goals against Hofstra.

Freshman Katherine Sargent (Unionville, PA) scored three times in the victory over Rutgers.

Softball (20-22-1, 5-9 Ivy)

This Week: April 30 vs. Quinnipiac (DH), 2 p.m., Dewitt Family Field

In four games, sophomore Shayna Filson (San Ramon, CA) batted .500 (6 for 12) with two home runs and three RBI. She now has nine homers this season, which is a new Yale single season record, breaking the mark of seven she set last year.

Sophomore Jillian Miles (Trabuco Canyon, CA) pitched perhaps the best game of her career against Sacred Heart. She went the distance, allowed only two hits and struck out a career-high 11 batters. It was her team-high ninth win of the season.

Freshman Lucas Meyer (Ridgefield, CT) finished sixth in the 5,000 run with a time of 14.31.07 at the Penn Relays. Senior Thomas Hocker (San Jose, CA) placed eighth in the 400 hurdles with a time of 51.73.

Next: May 11-12 at Heptagonal Championships

Junior Laura O'Neill (Milton, MA) placed second in the 10,000 run at the Penn Relays. She ran an NCAA qualifying time of 33:39.14.
