Yale affiliates awarded YUWO scholarships to continue studies
Nine Yale affiliates were awarded scholarships at the Yale University Women's Organization's (YUWO) annual meeting held on May 1 at the New Haven Country Club.
The recipients are: Claire F. Cassidy, graduate student, School of Nursing; Kari L.B. Coyle, administrative associate, Department of Surgery, School of Medicine; Crystal E. Gooding, coordinator, Information Technology Services-Medicine; Linda V. Jackson, programs coordinator, Department of Student Affairs, School of Medicine (recipient of the Gustav and Carol Sirot Award); Susan Jackson-Mack, administrative assistant, Department of Statistics (recipient of the Magee Fenn Award); Vonetta Joe, daughter of Nancy Joe-Brown of custodial services; Liza Joyner, financial assistant, Department of History; Shaun J. King, senior administrative assistant, Organizational Development and Learning Center; and Dorinda S. Muir, wife of Robert Muir of the physical plant.
YUWO scholarships are awarded annually to women whose formal educations have been interrupted or delayed and who wish to resume their studies or enhance or change careers.
The guest speaker at the meeting was Jane A. Levin, who discussed her years at Yale in a talk titled "Student, Teacher, President's Wife."
